These changes are expected to bring new perspectives, new skills, and increased effectiveness in government activities.

The government recently restructured its machinery, affecting approximately 21 ministers of state. These included Cabinet ministers, regional ministers, and the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta. Ofori-Atta has faced criticism from both protesters and Members of Parliament from both his party and the opposition, who are unhappy with his management of the country's economy.

Mohammed Amin Adam, a former Minister of State for Finance, replaces Ken Ofori-Atta, who will serve as Senior Presidential Advisor on the economy. Since President Akufo Addo took office for a second term in 2021, this is the biggest overhaul of his administration ever. The reshuffling of the ministers is seen as a strategic move aimed at optimizing the performance of key portfolios, ultimately driving progress and development in the country.

The shuffle doesn't stop because ministers don't do their job, but they might not be well placed in the department where they are assigned. Consequently, they may be assigned to other ministries based on their specific characteristics. The President rejected calls for an overhaul of his appointed officials in August 2022, saying he had no plans to do so. According to him, when he assessed his ministers, their performance was in line with expectations.

Though it has been widely expected, the change came late in the day with only ten months to go before parliamentary elections. Such people would benefit from an overhaul of public administration much earlier, which would bring new ideas and policy initiatives to stimulate growth and development. It is because ministers are often transferred so that they do not establish kingdoms in the various ministries.

Without prejudice to the fact that some ministers in a specific post are constantly at work, they do not have an opportunity to give their best effort. Indeed, a former national leader of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Freddy Blay, said it was too late to make this change. He claims that two years back, the President was supposed to make a reshuffle. He had to do a reshuffle two years ago or one year ago," he said.

It may be easier to blame President Akufo-Addo for not heeding the calls for a reshuffle much earlier when pleas for an overhaul of his government were made, but we would not know what informed the President to do it now. And we're giving him the benefit of the doubt for that. But it's better late than never, and we welcome the new ministers brought in to assist the President in the efficient and effective management of the affairs of the state.

In addition, to justify their confidence and trust, we at the Daily Graphic would call on new ministers, especially those who have been transferred, to show more courage, innovation as well as fresh ideas. Finding ways to create more jobs, fight poverty, and boost economic growth by reducing taxes and red tape will be the immediate challenge for our country as it faces many challenges.

The effectiveness of the new ministers has been called into question by many, suggesting that they may not have enough time to adjust and make a significant change. But, despite the small amount of time they have before the election in December, we think they can do it. They know there's no time for a honeymoon or champagne to be popped. We're a country thirsty for economic recovery, so this reshuffling is expected to be an indication of strategies.
The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-49883362354463612552023-12-04T10:53:00.000-08:002024-03-12T12:56:05.917-07:00Lakeside Real Estate has won five awards at the 35th anniversary of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA); VAAL Real Estate has recently launched Legato Heights, a new property development project.

Lakeside Real Estate has won five awards at the 35th anniversary of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA)

Lakeside Estate, the leading real estate developer in the country, was awarded five accolades at the 35th-anniversary dinner and awards night of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA).

The association also posthumously honored the late Mr. Torgbor Mensah with the Housing Personality of the Year award for his outstanding contribution to the development of the Association. These include office spaces, retail spaces, industrial spaces, and land for development. Each type of commercial real estate has its own unique features and benefits, and it is important to carefully evaluate your options before deciding on which type of commercial property to invest in.

Multi-family Real Estate

Multi-family real estate refers to housing with multiple units that are typically located within a single physical structure. These properties occupy a space between commercial and residential real estate and are considered commercial property since owners can generate income from them rather than primarily using them as residences.

They can be found in urban or suburban locations and can be either mid-rise or high-rise buildings. Multi-family real estate is considered a safe investment because, despite the transient nature of residents, a few vacant units do not significantly impact the profitability of a large apartment building.

Office Spaces

Office buildings can be classified into different formats based on their height. They can either be mid-rise or high-rise buildings. Office leases are generally long-term as management prefers to maintain stability and avoid frequent relocation of their workforce.

These buildings can be premium, with excellent infrastructure and location, and equipped with professional facility management systems. High-rise office buildings in metropolitan areas usually fall under this category. There is another category of office real estate that offers functional facilities but lacks the characteristics of premium properties. Such offices are usually located outside of urban or metro areas.

Retail Spaces

Retail space is used for a variety of commercial purposes, ranging from small neighborhood stores to large malls and entertainment complexes. Due to its location in high-traffic areas, retail space is typically more expensive than office space. Retail leases are generally long-term and often include anchor tenants with established brands, which can attract a larger customer base.

Industrial Spaces

Industrial real estate includes warehouses, manufacturing centers, and distribution hubs. They are typically located outside of residential areas. Logistic hubs and special economic zones tend to make up clusters of this commercial real estate.

Upside of Commercial Real Estate

Commercial real estate offers several advantages, one of which is attractive leasing rates. In areas where new construction is limited by either land or law, commercial real estate can provide impressive returns and considerable monthly cash flows.

Although industrial buildings generally rent at a lower rate, they also have lower overhead costs compared to an office tower. Commercial properties provide stable income compared to stocks, bonds, and shares, making them a safe investment in real estate.

Commercial real estate has an advantage over residential real estate when it comes to lease contracts. The lease contracts in commercial real estate are typically longer, which provides the holder with a significant amount of cash flow stability. This stability is ensured as long as long-term tenants occupy the building.

In addition to providing a stable and lucrative source of income, commercial real estate also offers the potential for capital appreciation. However, this potential can only be realized if the property is well-maintained and kept up-to-date. Investing in a promising location is a safe bet as it ensures a steady cash flow even when there are no tenants.

Commercial real estate is one of the most secure and safest forms of investment as the income remains stable even when the market is volatile, making it more attractive to investors.

Downside of Commercial Real Estate

Investing in commercial real estate directly can be daunting due to the complex rules and regulations involved. The taxes, purchasing procedures, and maintenance responsibilities for commercial properties are often buried in layers of legal jargon. These requirements vary depending on the state, county, industry, size, zoning, and other designations. As a result, most investors in commercial real estate either have specialized knowledge or employ experts to navigate these complexities.

The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-17386074213257386012023-12-03T13:05:00.000-08:002023-12-03T13:08:22.856-08:00What you should know about Real Estate and the top 5 real estate companies in Ghana in 2024?
What you should know about Real Estate and the top 5 real estate companies in Ghana in 2024?

Real estate refers to the physical land, including the structures and permanent improvements attached to it. This can include man-made structures like houses as well as natural features. Real estate is distinct from personal property, which refers to movable items such as vehicles, jewelry, or furniture that are not permanently attached to the land. Real estate is not limited to just the land but also includes any permanent structures, such as houses and buildings. Any modifications or changes to the land that affect the value of the property are referred to as improvements. Whenever land is developed, a considerable fixed investment is made up of both capital and labor used to construct the improvements. While a building can be demolished, permanent improvements such as drainage, electricity, water, and sewer systems remain. Real property encompasses the land and all its enhancements, along with the rights associated with its ownership and use.

Real Estate Developer Vrs Real Estate Agent

A real estate developer is someone who initiates and owns a real estate development project. The path of destruction created by the pandemic indeed continues to plague several countries. The pandemic has had a major impact on the school year in general, even though schools have been completely closed. Schools have been resorting to online learning in an attempt to keep up the pace, which has resulted in a widening of differences between urban and rural pupils' educational outcomes. While many countries have recovered from the impact of the pandemic, others are still having difficulty getting back on track. For instance, the country continues to write the Ghana Only Version of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates (WASSCE-SC), while the academic year is yet to be reverted to the normal May/June and September/October academic year. The result is that managers of private preparatory schools are not able to estimate when a term or semester begins or ends.

In addition, the situation led to students being unable to write their end-of-semester exams due to a sudden announcement that they would be closed and schools were not able to carry them out. However, on September 13, 2023, the Ghana Education Service (GES) issued a memo to all regional directors of education on the decision of management to revert the academic calendar of basic schools to the pre-COVID-19 era. Consequently, the first term of the 2023-2024 academic year shall start on October 3, 2023, by the revised calendar. It is not only management, teachers, and students who are pleased by the news; it's also parents who have been forced to deal with unforeseen expenditures and other logistical difficulties because there hasn't been a regular school schedule. In Brytgh's view, this change will provide parents, carers, and education authorities with a way of planning effectively as opposed to the period after COVID-19, when it was almost impossible because of repeated changes. The COVID-19 era has indeed had a significant impact on all stakeholders within this sector.

We support calls for an evaluation mechanism to quantify the negative impact of the COVID-19 era and how it might affect students, while we welcome the reversal. This is particularly important in the case of senior high schools, where final-year students who will be writing the WASSCE SC may have a relatively short time to prepare for their end examinations with this reversal. We agree with the organization that such an evaluation would be helpful so that the GES, and for that matter, the Ministry of Education should take remedial action and where there is a need for adjustment, that is done. In diagnosing the impact this reversal would have on the final-year students, BrytGh proposes an intensive crash program for the students so that they are not exceptionally disadvantaged at the end of the day. Strangely, this is not the first time a crash course for final-year students in our country will be organized. In the year 2020, when schools were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the final year students were recalled in less than four months to write both the Basic Education Certificate Examination and the WASSCE.

Admittedly, it's natural that some of us will be disadvantaged as a result of each step we take in our lives and so is this reversal, but the kind of measures taken can mitigate these effects. In this context, parents must have an important role to play in the whole process as they will help students and their respective school authorities reach their full potential. So, are we learning any lesson from COVID-19 as we're pleased to see that the semester is reversed?
The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-6926545907376412592023-10-31T13:32:00.002-07:002023-12-02T03:13:47.103-08:00Gyakie -- Rent Free (Official Video).

Watch: Gyakie, a talented Ghanaian singer-songwriter, has recently released the official video for her captivating song "Rent Free." Despite the measures taken by governments to protect journalists by the UN 2012 Action Plan on Safety of Journalists, which calls for a Multistakeholder Approach involving all actors at the Global and National level that have a common interest in Preventing Violence Against JOURNALISTS, protecting them from criminalization or penalizing perpetrators. Consequently, a Coordinated Mechanism on the Safety of Journalists was birthed and an office was established to among other things train key actors to uphold the safety of journalists, investigate and validate reports of attacks on journalists and media, hold the security agencies and the judiciary to be accountable, and publish an annual report on the safety of journalists and efforts to punish attacks on them.

In a statement on the floor to update it on efforts to improve on the safety of journalists in Accra yesterday, Mr Oppong Nkrumah said the mechanism has not fared any better. Since its establishment, the Coordinated Journalist Safety Mechanism has achieved only a modest degree of success," he said. Under its advocacy function, Mr Oppong Nkrumah, MP for Ofoase/Ayirebi, said the office, having conducted training sessions in 2019 for journalists in the Northern Region, the ministry has also been engaging the Judicial Service, advocating for severe punishment by the judiciary of persons who attack journalists and media houses.

The Minister of Information further stated, among other things, that the Ministry in partnership with UNESCO held a three-day seminar on freedom of expression and journalists' safety for 25 judges from across the globe according to international norms and regional standards at its headquarters in 2022, which we believe was useful. He said that a report from the Office has pointed to excessive and unprofessional handling of Caleb Kudah, who had been mishandled by National Security officers in the past. So the National Security Department has canceled all SWAT teams that were operating within it, reassigning police officers to their mother agencies. The Office has also examined other cases of reported attacks on the media, with findings forwarded to security and prosecution authorities for appropriate action," he said. Under the function of accountability, the minister said, “the mechanism has not been very successful”.

He said that it could not be overemphasized that the investigations, prosecutions, and judicial departments must be held responsible for incidents notified to them. He said the Ministry of Internal Affairs had to intervene and report directly to the Ghana Police Service in some cases, demanding accountability for the investigation, prosecution, and punishment of offenders. Mr Oppong Nkrumah stated that Parliament could help to hold agencies responsible for incidents reported by them, in a three-point motion requesting full implementation of the mechanism. In his view, there would be a need for closer collaboration between the stakeholder groups in the Public Communications sector because no one stakeholder group can take on this problem alone.

The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-74760421996092171372023-09-06T10:02:00.004-07:002023-12-02T09:30:52.374-08:00Let's do all we can, and find any tiny means to combat the fast-growing Hepatitis as soon as possible.

At any point of time in life different issues or things pop up and on today's news break our concern is on the fastest spread of one dangerous disease better known as Hepatitis. We hereby enlighten readers on Hepatitis as we're about to throw more light on it following the memorization of World Hepatitis Day. Hepatitis has been classified as one of the most dreadful diseases to mankind which could be acquired through diverse means. It is very dreadful and sad that it all attacks the vital human organs. When there is inflammation in the liver, then we can say one is having Hepatitis. One is bound to acquire Hepatitis through many modes but above all, the most common in most cases are viral infections. This viral infection has been categorized into five and also named after the first five alphabets.

In light of this, we have Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis D, and Hepatitis E. All these types aren't caused by one virus but different ones instead and they are associated with different characteristics. Now, how one can get into contact with these five classified Hepatitis are almost similar; one can get it through the blood, or fluid of an infected person. This dreadful Hepatitis does live in other bodily fluids and blood and quickly spreads after getting in contact with someone who is infected and also not under treatment. Medical experts suggest some Hepatitis can be transmitted through using needles with an infected person, engaging in unprotected sex with an infected person, or even infected mother can pass it on to a child during childbirth.

There are a wide range of signs that will notify you about being infected with Hepatitis. The symptoms of this viral Hepatitis are not static but rather vary in many ways. These signs also depend on the type and the time of infection. The signs may include tiredness when doing nothing, vomiting, and eye changes into yellowing. According to Expect, getting Hepatitis is not like you are about to die but what is important here is to detect it early so that it doesn't graduate to a more severe stage so that it doesn't build to chronic Hepatitis. Now, our greatest fear is how we can track and get those who have been affected and the impact of Hepatitis on the Nation of Ghana. Even though the growing rate of this Hepatitis is low there is a need to create awareness and offer treatment to those who have been infected.

A test was conducted and the result was that, out of 100 persons screened, 4 of them were infected. Due to poor hesitancy, Ghana is not able to diagnose and treat those who have been infected and therefore in their early stage of infection. This led to the late discovery that those who have been infected and also have chronic Hepatitis of most of them die. We can all fight this together by checking our vitals from time to time to ensure early detection of Hepatitis so that the needed treatment can be given to the victims. Let's all support Ghana to combat it.

We've to join hands to make our outermost effort to protect the fishing industry in the country.

Ghana is now in the position of importing around 3 hundred million seafood and other related products into the country every year. But the point everyone is trying to understand is how can a country like Ghana be importing such huge worth of products while nature has blessed us with wide kilometers of sea, unlike other states which don't have. Putting aside the sea we have, Ghana is also blessed with so many rivers including River Volta which is also capable of serving the country with a wide range of river foods. Talking about River Volta is one of the largest rivers that finds its way through almost six West African countries. Other rivers in the country also bring up diverse vocations to those inhabitants around. Some towns located around these rivers embark on their agricultural activities as they depend on these rivers.

What amuses me most is that the fisheries sector of the economy of Ghana is massively struggling to survive. With all these opportunities, the industry can't find its own way to make things more realistic, and if proper care is not taken, the entire fishing industry of economy will be doomed. The capable stakeholders are in the importation business thereby rendering high dependence on seafood and products from other countries since the indigenous supply of seafood and other related products is limited. State Fishing Corporation and other organizations were once the pride of the country some days ago due to their massive plans and interventions; large cold stores and other materials helped to acquire the seafood in large quantities.

This enabled the country to supply in abundance the necessary seafood and products all year round. And because of this, the fishing industry sector was also growing impressively. All other vocations related to fishery were doing well too. Now, the once vibrant State Fishing Corporation especially the one at Mankoadze is no more which is gradually sinking the whole sector into deep hell. The fishermen are trying all that they can even with the intervention of the close season by the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture. As we call on the government for a modernized means to help sustain the industry, it should be more strategic and well-informed policies to combat any other activities against the development of the fishing industry.

It is now becoming more obvious that Ghanaians are selling their fisheries industry to foreigners and for that matter those in charge of these respective fields are foreigners. This is so bad as we directly see the same in the agricultural sector; we engage ourselves in bad farming systems, poor types of equipment and tools, and many outmoded methods of farming and that is exactly what we are doing concerning fishing. No usage of modern equipment, the use of the traditional canoe that's all. Because of this, we had to handle such an important sector in foreigners we think they have experts in that leading to our fall into a huge pit.

Given this, we have to train and re-train our own people with the requisite skills and knowledge to occupy such vital places. The local fishermen however need to be trained to get themselves abreast with the modern technology in fishing. It's time we get to engage ourselves in scientific fishing so that we can make proper utilization of our waterbodies and the fish nature has gifted to us. We are capable of exploiting more seafood and products and even exporting some. Our recommendation is about the government adopting more interventions to ensure the country feeds itself.
The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-9692492281506637562023-08-12T12:32:00.007-07:002023-12-02T09:22:18.634-08:00Tertiary institutions are tasked by the leaders to come up with workable solutions to problems.
Tertiary institutions are tasked by the leaders to come up with workable solutions to problems.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given tertiary institutions across the country the task of coming up with an innovative and effective way to work with businesses and industry to find practical solutions to urgent problems. He proclaimed that the government was committed to bolstering existing systems and structures to ensure that universities fulfilled their duty to produce graduates who may speed up the nation's and global development. At Legon in Accra yesterday to commemorate the University of Ghana's 75th anniversary, President Akufo-Addo stated that the government "fully supports and shares in your perception to become a research-intensive school, and we will do everything in our power to help you understand it."

According to President Akufo-Addo, 75 years in an institution's existence is no small accomplishment, and the University College of Gold Coast has grown from its humble beginnings in 1948, when it was housed on the grounds of Achimota College, to one of the top colleges in Africa. He continued, "The university continues to be a proud pacesetter in mentoring and nurturing higher institutions and think tanks in the country," adding that there is now widespread recognition of the university's faculties and students' excellent performance as well as the professional successes chalked up by her alumni, both domestically and abroad.

The school, according to the president, has consistently met its goal of creating top-notch human resources and capabilities to meet national and international development needs. The Vice-Chancellor then appointed a 22-member council to oversee the year-long occasion, which kicked off on August 30, 2022. In addition to public lectures, enjoyment games, sports, and community services, this led to the creation of a company competition that included tree planting and blood donation activities. To commemorate the celebration, both Muslims and Christians took part in today's prayers and thanksgiving services. A special congregation was also held to bestow honorary degrees on a few notable people.

When President Akufo-Addo said that the anniversary undoubtedly brought back memories, but for him, the invaluable function of Dr. J., he made reference to the history of the nation's best university. The public was successfully persuaded to desire the construction of the university by B. Danquah. He claimed that the "inspired creative leadership of this great scholar and nationalist" was responsible for the university's foundation. According to the President, Dr. Danquah persuaded the British East African government to approve a separate university for the country, which would have been located in Ibadan, Nigeria, based on his minority recommendation after making several fervent interventions in the then-legislative council.

How fortunate that choice was, and how much it aided Ghana's current development. It would be entirely appropriate— if not improbable— to describe J. B. On the 75th anniversary of the university's founding, Danquah as its founder may be vividly remembered by all who have been and are benefited from his work, he emphasized, emphasizing. Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, vice chancellor of the University of Ghana, thanked everyone for their ongoing support, including the school neighborhood, partners, and the celebration planning committee. She urged everyone to keep making contributions to the university's achievement and expressed the hope that more would be accomplished in the following 75 years.

As part of the anniversary party, Prof. Amfo requested funding for the development of a legacy project that would include meeting rooms, an incubation center, and leadership training facilities. She also urged school stakeholders, including alumni, lecturers, and students, to celebrate the university's opening on October 11 by wearing its colors and posting a photo on social media. The university was founded on August 11.

Why don't the universities talk about it?

It is disturbing that the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, GTEC, revealed last week that the persons behind the advertisements inviting mature students to register for classes to prepare them for the entrance examinations to the main universities in the country are scam artists. The GTEC therefore recommended that these advertisements should not be patronised by the general public, especially for adults who are interested in higher education. The advertisers invite adults 25 years and above to register for tertiary education at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), or University of Ghana (UG), Legon. According to these advertisements, prospective candidates must be 25 years old or older and have not taken a West African School Certificate exam of the WASCE to qualify.

Nevertheless, those allegations were rejected by the GTEC and they issued a warning to the general public, particularly adults, not to take up these advertisements which are described as scams. The GTEC says there is nothing like being admitted as a mature student without any certificate, specifying that indeed, a potential student needs to have some form of certificate. The Deputy Director-General of GTEC, Professor Ahmed Abdulai Jinapor, explained that for GTEC admission requirements for mature students, the prospective candidate needed to have a credit in English and Mathematics and also pass an entrance examination depending on the way the particular university wanted it. A student must have relevant work experience, as it is possible to gain access to higher education while meeting a minimum requirement if he or she does not fulfill one of those requirements on account of the requisite working experience.

It is obvious that English and mathematics are the core of our current educational system, but there can be no student admitted without some basic requirement other than age. The Daily Graphic finds it strange that these advertisements have persisted over the years if, indeed, those behind these notices are scammers. If that's the case, then a whole lot of people would surely have been affected by their activities. It is even more remarkable that Professor Jinapor has confirmed his company's contacts with the intended beneficiary institutions on this issue, and denied their appointment of any agent to carry out those examinations for them. It's surprising, 'cause the people who put these ads on are not anonymous. The numbers of their contacts are boldly and publicly shown on the notice. The Brytgh wonders why the colleges listed in these advertisements didn't react to this, but let some individuals and groups of people scam their way around unsuspecting adults wishing to pursue higher education. Is it known to these universities that their image and reputation are negatively affected by such activities?

The BrytGh wonders whether the universities that have been proclaimed beneficiaries of this program truly know what's happening behind these advertisements. We've been persuaded that certain officials of these universities are in charge of the courses and this is why they dare to call them "Universities" without thinking about being asked questions. The academic authorities of these universities should open an investigation into such activities, identify the real faces involved in those advertising campaigns, and ascertain whether certain staff are exploiting their university names to make illicit profits. It is expected that the management of universities which are often mentioned in these advertisements will publicly distance themselves from them. Unfortunately, the GTEC, the regulator in the tertiary education space, looks on helplessly because its mandate does not cover activities outside the vicinity of the tertiary space. To that end, GTEC could just as well educate potential students about the dangers of this activity and show them how to be careful.
The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-3727774033741730592023-08-11T08:13:00.003-07:002023-12-02T03:13:47.103-08:00Let's prioritize peace in the country and nothing more.
Let's focus on the peace of this country, and nothing more. It's about us putting our best foot forward to ensure that peace reigns in every aspect of our lives. The country Ghana is most often recognized by international communities due to its sustainability of peace. This is a country that will always ensure peace, at all costs. As if, given the country's stable and welcoming nature for investments, this is all but known. Because of this, the country's leaders pride themselves on strengthening their ties with a country that will eventually lure investors in and grow the economy as well.

Again, our leaders also boost themselves with the peacefulness of the country to paint the country's good image as well. Of late some occurrences seem to pose a danger to the peace, security, and stability of the country. These happenings have been described to have threatened the peace in the country and typical examples include the use of unjustified expressions in the public domain by politicians, and roses of conflict due to chieftaincy among others which are erasing the peace of the country.

We however underestimate such threats or actions from multiple individuals to the peace we are experiencing in the country and yet cover up with unnecessary arguments that there is no way the country could engage in any form of violent activities all because Ghana is known to be a peace-oriented country. Such thoughts need to be considered critically. According to the research organized by the Global Peace Index, Ghana, a country which has been ranked the most peaceful country in West Africa has this time around lost to Sierra Leone because certain things we overlooked meanwhiles posing threats to our peace.

We hope that if the necessary agencies encourage each and everyone to deal with each other transparently and truthfully, all the hidden challenges confronting the peace of the country can be overcome. This should perhaps be confidential and trustworthy. We can however build a solid peaceful country by supporting the National Peace Council and the National Commission of Civic Education to extend the needed information to all through their educative services.

To preserve the peace of the country, do not become politically biased

Since 1993, when democracy came to the country, there have been various pressure groups active in pursuit of different agendas. These groupings, which are characterized primarily by their political leaning and positions on certain issues, can be identified with certain parties when one is assessing them in such a way. OccupyGhana; FixtheCountry; and Fixing the Country Movement are examples of pressure groups. The Fixing the Country Movement declared to its members that it planned to picket former President Mahama's office at Labone, Accra, this October. This event, scheduled for the 23rd of November, focused on a deal to buy an Airbus during former President Obama's administration that the movement considers questionable.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has joined the condemnation of the waving of machetes and other weapons at the office of former President John Dramani Mahama, stressing that no individual or group will be allowed to destabilize the peace and security of the country. We're encouraging President AkufoAddo, as well as others like him who condemn what the NDC youth have done. Their action was a subtle way of telling the public that had members of Fixing The Country Movement picketed at Mr. Mahama’s office, they would have caused the event to turn bloody. We believe this kind of behavior should not be tolerated in a country, even though it might lead to chaos and instability that could compromise national peace.

To put it simply, there is a huge loss of peace rating to the country for just trying to unleash violence, which hurts its progress and development, primarily as regards external investment and additional support. If we all therefore value the peace in the country, which makes it a beacon of hope for tranquillity and stability in Africa, then while we condemn acts of violence, we should also condemn and warn those who give others cause to show their violent side. In light of this, we call on President AkufoAddo to condemn those members of the Fixing The Country Movement after they declare that they are committed to seeing the Office of the Special Prosecutor take over the Airbus case. Also, rather than just applaud the NDC youth for cleaning his office, former President Mahama should have slammed them for carrying weapons to a clean-up exercise.

We should avoid all manner of bias, especially political, because that bias which benefits a few can cause mayhem for the country. In the run-up to the 2024 and subsequent elections, we should all work together to ensure that there is peace in the Country. In that way, we believe there will be a conducive atmosphere for any party that wins the election to pursue projects and programs aimed at developing this country to benefit all citizens.

The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-70684667060758008592023-06-04T05:17:00.199-07:002023-12-02T09:33:01.998-08:00 Black Volta is being destroyed as a result of illegal mining activities; Let's save Black Volta now.Black Volta is being destroyed as a result of illegal mining activities; Let's save Black Volta now. The current government in power promised to make sure that illegal mining better known as galamsey has been entirely stopped during the time he was campaigning for the presidency. With all the efforts and measure in place in fighting this illegal mining, it seems there is little to no results coming out since peoples are still actively engaging in these activities despite the government's attempts to fight it. It is however sad since it appears the illegal mining activities increasing almost all the time.

It is very disappointing to see that these illegal mining activities are growing despite all the laid interventions promising to put a stop to it. All the attempts to cast away these bad practices seem to have little or no impact with respect the stopping illegal mining activities in the country. What is more heartbreaking here is the news circulating all over which suggests there are massive illegal mining activities ongoing along the Black Volta River. This river is the one that takes its source from Burkina Faso and travels through to Ghana. It has been reported that some illegal mining operators have found their way to the bank to extract certain minerals. Records also have it that several river bodies in Ghana have been affected by these same illegal mining activities which eventually impeded our agricultural activities notwithstanding the destruction of some crucial assets of the country.

These affected national infrastructures include the Akosombo Dam and the Bui Power Generation Dam. Through these illegal mining activities, it has also been reported that the quality of our ecosystem has been drastically destroyed through the release of some toxic substances into the environment. The releasing of these toxic chemicals into the environment has caused great damage to our rivers in the country and the most painful side is that the rate at which this environment has been destroyed is beyond reparable. The truth of the matter is that all stakeholders and the entire population need to support an illegal mining-free environment. And there should be enforcement of laws to also put these illegal mining operators into order. Let all join this whether you're a civil servant, politician, pastor, traditional ruler, etc. What is important here is we all coming together to fight illegal mining.

We all can testify that the implications of this illegal mining are more dangerous and therefore must the responsibility together to get rid of it. Considering the trends of all the precious governments and their efforts to combat illegal mining, it is clearly notable that putting a stop to illegal mining activities would really take time. It is not something that is going to happen overnight. The approach in dealing with the stoppage of illegal mining needs to be well formulated, structured, systematic, and time. Patriotic citizens need to sit up and take it upon themselves and understand we coming together to combat illegal mining is our core responsibility but nothing more. This is the only way we can save our beloved country from some wicked group who wants to destroy our country through these illegal mining activities purposely for their personal and selfish gain We must understand that everybody is being counter up.
The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-38530504121772911892023-06-04T05:13:00.099-07:002023-12-02T03:13:47.104-08:00We have to support Ghana Revenue Authority in their generation of taxes. We have to support the Ghana Revenue Authority in their generation of taxes. No textile will definitely enter the country's market zones starting in October of this year without having an excise tax stamp embossed on it, as suggested by the Ghana Revenue Authority( GRA). According to the Ghana Revenue Authority, any materials made of natural or artificial fibers that were imported with design or woven designs would be covered by the tax stamp policy, including wax prints, fancy prints( plain dyed), and other African prints.

The Ghana Revenue Authority believed that by imposing tax stamps on all imported or locally produced textiles, the struggling textile industry would be freed from its impending collapse. GRA will make sure that even fabric-bearing tax stamps are permitted on the market so that fabric cannot be sold on the local market if they fall short of this. In this case, red tax stamps are zero-rated, which means they are selected from paying for the tax stamps.

They will only be applied to domestically produced fabric and polished prints. The blue tax stamps are for goods in transit and textiles that were in stock prior to the implementation. This step, according to the Ghana Revenue Authority and its stakeholders — including the Ministry of Trade and Industry— would revive the traditionally produced textile industry and aid in job growth. The Ghana Revenue Authority announced that police shall be deployed at the points of sale from January 2, 2024, in order to guarantee compliance with the policy. Nearly five years have passed since the government first decided to implement the tax mark policy to stop smuggling, piracy, and the dumping of fake goods onto the local market.

A plan for implementing the policy within two weeks was agreed upon by the government and the textile industry on September 9, 2019. On Friday, September 6, 2019, Alan Kyerematen, the curate of trade and industry at the time, met with industry stakeholders in Accra to discuss the plan. Despite requests for its implementation from the Textiles, Garment, and Leather Workers Union( TGLEU), the implementation plan has not been carried out.

After being put on hold for more than five decades, we are happy that the GRA has finally put the tax mark plan into effect. The flood of pirated fabrics onto the local market, which has been exacerbated by large production costs, is choking the once-vibrant textile industry, so we are concerned about the plan.

To carry out this care and keep it from becoming another lip service, we implore the GRA to make every effort. According to BrytGh, the task force formed in 2010 to stop the sale of piracy-related textile goods in regional markets included members of the Ghana Union of Trade Association( GUTA) and security agency personnel. The World Trade Organization's Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights( TRIPs) Agreement, which forbids governments from allowing infringed goods to enter the commercial system and from permitting their re-exportation, was used to establish the task force.

Despite calls for its activeness from market gurus, the anti-textile piracy task force has been acting for almost 13 years, which worrying. The BrytGh believes that the time has come to reassemble the workforce to oversee implementation in order to guarantee its complete victory. The BrytGh will continue to support the initiative with informative content, follow-ups, and pointers that will assist the GRA and its partners in flawlessly implementing this crucial policy, as has always been our contribution. This is based on the idea that, given the right care, the cotton sector and nearby businesses will bounce back to winning streaks and increase employment.

The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-45702906832514896342023-06-04T04:38:00.040-07:002023-12-02T03:13:47.104-08:00Local Students In The Local Universities Must Be Given More Schorlarship
On behalf of 4,279 students from various national universities and colleges, the Ghana Education Trust Fund( GETFund) paid GH25.3 million in annual fees on August 1, 2023. The award recipients were enrolled in those institutions' undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs. In contrast to previous years, when GETFund scholarships favored African students studying abroad, in this period more scholarships were given to applicants attending local universities and colleges.

According to GETFund, there are 63% more successful applicants this year than there were 2,704 recipients last year. BrytGh learned that more than 17, 000 applicants might be waiting for their turn and that about 300 qualified applicants have yet to take advantage of the fellowship. We would like to urge them not to waste this chance.

To continue participating in the fellowship program, the beneficiaries may work hard in their studies and earn the required grades. They should be aware that GETFund's ongoing sponsorship of them is directly related to their academic performance and that those who don't get the required grades will have their fellowship withdrawn without hesitation. Additionally, GETFund reserves the right to revoke their fellowship if they are recipients of other scholarship programs, are found guilty of misconduct, or defer the program without the Administrator's prior written consent.

The Daily Graphic applauds GETFund's management for deviating from providing Ghanaian students with scholarships to attend expensive university programs internationally when they could have done so locally. One student's tuition at a foreign university would cost the same as training more than 22 local health professionals.

For instance, training a first-year medical student locally will typically cost around GH12,000 per year for the 2022– 2023 academic year, while the same students pursuing medicine at any UK university will pay at least£ 19,000 annually. In addition to this£ 19,000, the government also pays for things like a monthly stipend, warm clothing allowance, and other expenses, so an international university program costs at least£ 23,000 per year.

It is true that in the past, a local student was denied GH20,000 to enroll in programs at local universities, but his counterpart who applied for scholarships to study an almost identical program at UK universities was given£ 13, 000 in tuition in addition to some reasonable amounts of pounds sterling to cover the cost of books and clothing, as well as other yearly expenses for two years.

Unfortunately, the majority of those students end up refusing to go back home after receiving taxpayer-funded training, depriving the nation of their expertise— the reason they were sent there. Students on government scholarships outside of the country frequently complain about not getting the money they should from the government.

Next year, when Russia- Ukraine conflict erupted, Ghana had to remove its students studying it and most of them are continuing their programs in Ghana. That means that whatever they are being taught in those international institutions is similar to or the same as what is done directly.

BrytGh doesn't understand how the administration of the account did not see the waste that went on when like amounts could have been used to teach many professionals instead of one individual. Ghanaians cannot understand why such selections were taken and nothing, including our representatives in Parliament, always raised any red flags. So, if the control and board of GETFund find it wise to instead invest in our institutions by sponsoring students to pursue programs directly, we cannot but applaud this decision. However, that is the way to go and there should be no turning back.

In addition to saving the national coffers, GETFund's decision also helps to keep local universities afloat so they don't run out of money. Strengthening our educational institutions to produce the required human capital is essential for us to achieve the highly regarded Ghana Beyond Aid goal, and GETFund's action is the right one.
Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11590845509630016252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-1404799135528656762023-06-04T04:33:00.047-07:002023-12-02T03:13:47.103-08:00Lithium is a blessing to Ghana; the lithium policy ought to bring us the breakthrough.
Despite its abundance of natural resources, Africa has become the poorest peninsula in the world as a result of the long-running debate about how it manages its resources. Due in part to corruption, incompetence, social unrest, and short-sightedness, which causes countries to settle for less, African countries have typically been blamed for performing poorly in negotiations with companies in the extractive sector. Illegal financial flows from the industrial industry typically make these problems worse.

Given that Ghana is a resource-rich nation, many Ghanaians and civil society organizations in the nation can relate to these discussions. The nation does, in fact, possess a wealth of natural resources, including valuable minerals, forests, and arable land. However, because these resources are largely bounded, they must be nurtured and safeguarded for the benefit of all people, especially the next generation.

Ore, oil, gold, diamonds, and, timber are just a few of Ghana's abundant natural resources. By providing jobs for our citizens and funding other projects with tax, the mining sector has made a significant contribution to the growth of the country's economy. Lithium and other natural minerals have been found in industrial quantities, despite the unappealing experience of the country receiving less benefit from more than a century of gold mining.

Fortunately, the Cabinet has approved a new plan for managing, controlling, and using lithium and other natural minerals in the country. Metals and other mineral resources needed to support the transition to clean energy technologies intended to reduce carbon emissions are referred to as "minerals of the future" or "green minerals." Some of the nutrients that fall under the category of "green minerals" include bauxite, cobalt, copper, lithium, granite, chromium, and nickel.

Samuel Abu Jinapor, the secretary of land and natural resources, reported to Brytgh on July 27 that the Cabinet had approved the policy following thorough research. The new Green Minerals Policy changes the mining and nutrient policies of 2014 to contain robust and intensifying regimes in order to maximize the advantages of lithium and other natural minerals. It became clear that the misuse of natural resources was irrefutable. Nevertheless, it must be done ethically and responsibly.

Therefore, it is crucial that the government takes all necessary measures to make sure that Ghana's citizens benefit as much from the use and abuse of these natural minerals as possible, not just from an environmentally friendly standpoint. The resolve of this government may remain unwavering.

Despite the fact that much has been said, done, and accomplished, The Daily Graphic believes it is time to commit to a national action plan to ensure that only the proper things are done in the normal resource field and that any negative lots are swiftly punished. All citizens had approach natural resource management more comprehensively, in our opinion, if we are to ensure a more sustainable future.

In order to achieve this, it will be necessary to strike a balance between social happiness, environmental protection, and economic expansion. According to The Daily Graphic, the new policy's overarching objective must be based on the idea that Ghanaians, who are the real owners of the resource, should gain from the exploitation of natural minerals. The foundations for the exploitation of natural minerals may differ from those for gold specifically.

By carefully utilizing the natural resource endowments for our long-term collective good, the nation must work to promote a healthier environment. In order to improve the environment and communities in the future, the paper urges everyone to commit to taking action and taking lessons from the past. To ensure a sustainable future for all Ghanaians, both living and unborn, this can be accomplished by showing compassion and cooperating.

Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11590845509630016252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-53283136353013470632023-06-04T04:26:00.040-07:002023-12-02T03:13:47.105-08:00 Those affected by Autism must be treated with special attention As Ghana is launching a program to eradicate malaria.
The Daily Graphic published a story on its front page on Wednesday, July 12, with the headline "Autism must not be death warrant: GT Bank rolls out big action." The tale showed how, despite having autism, 16-year-old Phil Bertino was excelling in sports like bicycling, swimming, and other pursuits. It also brought to light how difficult it was for Phil Bertino's parents to give him the medical and psychological care he needed to lead a normal lifestyle. The monetary investments Phil Bertino's parents made in his life, from pricey medical treatments and other procedures to providing him with specialized visual education, were clear from his success story. Children with autism can benefit both themselves and the community if they receive the necessary care and support, as demonstrated by Phil Bertino's success story.

However, it seems that autism has not received the proper care, and many people are unaware of the condition. The development of a person's communication and social interaction skills is impacted by the neurological condition known as autism, which affects normal brain function. Millions of people worldwide are affected by this lifelong problem. Autism spectrum disorder is characterized by delayed social skills, repetitive behavior, and difficulty with speech and nonverbal communication, according to the Center for Learning and Childhood Development( CLCD). It is a cerebral and developmental condition that affects children from an early age and persists for life. Although the causes of autism remain a secret, research has linked them to genes and the atmosphere. According to the US-based Center for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 1% of people worldwide suffer from autism spectrum disorder( ASD).

According to the World Health Organization( WHO), one out of every 160 kids worldwide has autism spectrum disorder. The CLCD estimates that 38.7% of Ghanaian children under the age of 14 are affected, despite the lack of information on the continent of Africa. According to a 2017 record from the Autism Society of Ghana, 400,000 people in Ghana are disabled. The Daily Graphic is concerned because some people in the nation attribute the circumstance to witchcraft or a divine plague. People with autism deal with prejudice, prejudices, and various forms of abuse as a result of this attitude. Additionally, those who have autistic children usually criticize the society in which they live and their parents and caregivers.

Even worse, it can be very challenging for the majority of parents of children with autism to provide for them properly due to their financial struggles. In addition to the typical costs that parents without adhd must pay, caring for disabled children entails higher medical costs, more expensive transportation, and higher educational costs. Abigail Asempa, the superintendent of the non-profit AwaaAwaa2 organization that raises children with special needs, expressed concern over the government's "zero interest" in the plight of autistic children. According to The Daily Graphic, it is time for the government to support those with autism by providing them with a unique clinical care package. Additionally, it's crucial to provide centers for the education of autistic children with special incentives.

Once more, we at the Daily Graphic think that for people with autism to function better and advance the nation, society must accept them as everyone else. Therefore, attitudinal change in attitudes toward people with autism, their parents, and caregivers is required by the general public. Actors from both states and non-states must participate in the support of autistic children. The Daily Graphic thanks the Guaranteed Trust( GT) Bank for launching a $2 million initiative to support autistic children and their caregivers in light of this.

Ghana is launching a program to eradicate malaria.

Malaria, a leading cause of death, has now been eradicated in the nation as part of an extreme step. The decision, according to the Ghana Health Service( GHS), which made the announcement yesterday, was a result of significant advancements in epidemic control and lessons learned over time. Malaria mortality decreased by 95% between 2012 and 2022, a decrease from 2, 799 deaths in 2012 to 151 in 2030, while malaria prevalence decreased from 27.5% in 2011 to 8.6% in 2020.

Dr. Keziah Malm, the director of the National Malaria Elimination Programme, stated yesterday at a press conference in Accra that elimination would be achieved by enhancing the interventions that have contributed to the control of malaria over time and introducing some new ones. The new ones include scaling up malaria immunization, post-discharge malaria chemoprevention, and mass drug administration. Dr. Malm even mentioned the traditional interventions, which included pilot-scale vaccination, the distribution of long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets, interpersonal behavior change campaigns, and vector surveillance. Study and indoor residual spraying are the other two. The director of the Malaria Elimination Programme said, "I know some people say elimination isn't possible, but we believe it's possible gradually."

The zero malaria targets, according to Dr. Malm, were doable because many things had been accomplished, but more work was still required because malaria remained a national danger that had an effect on social and economic growth. She claimed that while malaria continued to be a major cause of death for people, forecasts of the effects of federal interventions indicated that the nation could easily eradicate it. Dr. Malm claimed that over time, the nation's ability to eradicate malaria was supported by the fact that it had been able to significantly lower mortality rates and occurrence thanks to its long-defunct Malaria Control Program. Using the 2022 figures as a baseline, the current elimination target aims to reduce cases by 50% and mortality by 100% by 2028. Over the past five years, the number of malaria deaths has also decreased significantly, from 1.42 to 0.45 per 100,000 situations.

According to Dr. Malm, the new malaria elimination strategy was created to strengthen passive and active surveillance and monitoring evaluation systems, guarantee that 100% of all confirmed cases were treated appropriately, effectively, and completely within 72 hours, as well as guarantee a 100% detection rate by 2028.

We need to intensify the campaign against diabetes.

In response to growing concern over the rising threat of diabetes, Ghana joined the world in observing World Diabetic Day on Wednesday, founded in 1991 by the International Union for Diabetic Diseases and the World Health Organisation. The Global Campaign shines a light on issues that are very important to the world of diabetes, maintaining its strong profile in both media and politics. It is estimated that diabetes affects one in ten adults worldwide. Over 90 percent have Type 2 diabetes. There are still half who have not been diagnosed. Adherence to healthy habits can delay or prevent Type 2 diabete and its complications in many cases.

In Ghana, approximately 7.5 percent of the adult population is said to have Type 2 diabetes with fears that a lot more people may have the condition but are unaware of it. According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), an average of 200,000 cases of diabetes is recorded in Ghana annually with about 10 percent of the population estimated to live with the disease. World Diabetes Day continued to focus on the critical issue of diabetes as a worldwide health problem and made an effort to raise awareness about these worrying figures around the world. In Ghana, the Global Health Security Partnership has also taken up activities to raise awareness about this disease which is now a national health problem.

The publication of a national guideline on the management of diarrhea, which continues to be the most common cause of death in the country, is one such activity. To decrease the prevalence of diabetes, complications, and associated death, this guideline aims at closing gaps in care and ensuring standardization while improving healthcare practitioners' and public awareness of the disease. The Minister of Health, Kwaku AgyemanManu, yesterday launched guidelines to coincide with World Diabetes Day and said that the development of this guideline is significant in terms of reducing diabetes prevalence and improving healthcare for all.

He pointed out that the National Guidelines on diabetes will serve as a roadmap for healthcare professionals, detailing best clinical practices and evidence-based approaches to diabetes management to enhance the quality of care but also make it easier for patients to control their health and lead fulfilling lives. It is important, now more than ever, that citizens embrace this campaign and cooperate with health professionals to ensure the real impact of these Guidelines on communities and healthcare centers where people who live with diabetes or are at risk benefit from best practice guidelines.

Why you have to give Antinatal Attention

The celebration of World Prematurity Day annually on November 17 to raise awareness of preterm or premature birth means the reproductive problem is not anything to gloss over. The condition is said to cause a heavy burden of death and disability, psychological stress, and pain and suffering to parents, families, communities, and nations at large. Going by the global calculations, it means about seven percent of these children die and among them could be the children some parents had longed for. They can also be the only birth a couple would have in a lifetime and even if the scenarios are different, the death of a baby is generally a bitter experience for the couple, their extended families, and neighbors.

The cost incurred by parents and, sometimes loved ones, as well as health facilities (that is, the government for that matter) in the hope of ensuring the child’s survival cannot be ignored either. Among superstitious societies, particularly in the under-developed world, preterm children are seen as evil and so couples giving birth to such babies suffer the additional burden of being deemed accursed. Thanks to medical science such myths have been unraveled to a large extent as doctors say preterm births are mostly due to certain pregnancy-related complications, which are expertly handled by medical professionals. For that purpose, we are encouraging pregnant women to obey all the advice they receive from doctors and hospitals.

The main themes of the paper should be summarised and communicated to readers in a research paper conclusion. Although conclusions are rarely presented with new information that has not been provided in this article, they often relink the issue or give a new perspective on it. Perhaps this is the time for the National Commission for Civic Education to organize special programs in rural and periurban communities to stress the importance of discarding superstitions associated with premature birth and the importance of expectant mothers taking special care of their pregnancies.

We agree that the government should provide the necessary facilities for the care of preterm babies, yet we also think if women would take seriously all the necessary reproduction-related advice given to them, the pressure on the government in that area would ease. Besides, the incidence of preterm births would reduce, and as that happens, couples, families, and their communities, as well as the government would be saved from all the associated unpleasantness, including the loss of talents for national development.

Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11590845509630016252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-61874530467238119432023-05-15T16:09:00.000-07:002024-03-12T12:53:58.904-07:00Consider shifting your focus from theoretical learning to practical learning.
The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Osei Adutwum, has called on preachers who attended the Yaw Christian University Heritage College to refrain from exploiting other people to gain money and power. He believes that many clerics in this country abuse their powers, and unethically extort money from those who do not have it.

During the maiden graduation ceremony for 66 students of HCUC in Accra, a speech was read on behalf of the minister. The minister charged the preachers to serve God faithfully and help improve the current situation. Dr. Adutwum pointed out that the nation is currently facing ethical, moral, and spiritual issues. He emphasized the importance of the young pastors embodying themselves in the word of God to bring about positive change.

He praised the school for placing more emphasis on skills development. He added that this would improve knowledge, and career prospects and change attitudes, preparing the graduates for the job market. Dr Adutwum reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding the industrial base of the country and tackling graduate unemployment.

Speaking on the theme, ‘The ultimate value of a university degree in a developing economy’, he stressed the importance of acquiring a degree. However, he called on educational stakeholders to broaden their horizons by moving away from theoretical learning and embracing practical skills development.

CHECK: Tertiary institutions are tasked by the leaders to come up with workable solutions to problems.

Dr Adutwum advised institutions in the country to adopt new technology to stay competitive. He encouraged the graduating students to adhere to ethical rules and regulations and to continue their pursuit of excellence, integrity, and faithful service. "When meeting customer needs, aim for excellence, not mediocre or average performance," he added.

Dr Adutwum also noted that courtesy and service were lacking in many workplaces, and called for change. Dr Samuel Twumasi Ankrah, President of Heritage Christian College (HCC), explained that the college is a higher educational institution supported by the Church of Christ.

In 1982, the university started as a national Bible institute offering a two-year preacher training. Later, in 2001, it integrated into HCUC to deliver the educational needs of the citizens. Dr. Ankrah assured the management's commitment to position the university as a center of excellence for career and professional development to serve individuals seeking professional certification and skill upgrades.

To introduce courses in media studies, his outfit has begun work to establish the HCC media center, which will house a television and radio station. Dr. Ankrah advised the graduates to use the knowledge and skills they acquired to develop the country and magnify the college.

A total of 30 students who studied accounting, banking and finance, and information technology, among others in HCC, were degree holders. While 36, diploma holders, studied theology at Heritage Bible Institute (HBI).
The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-77296736730150899392023-04-24T15:49:00.008-07:002023-12-02T03:13:47.105-08:00Ghana is certainly not a country that should be importing onions and peppers
Ghana is certainly not a country that should be importing onions and peppers, not to mention the juicy end-of-service benefits to previous Presidents( two buildings, house helps, vehicles). Additionally, we import tomatoes and onions from Southeastern economies more than any other nation in the world. The largest landlocked nation in West Africa, according to Wikipedia, is Niger. Niger is one of the world's poorest nations, according to the 2023 Multidimensional Poverty Index( MPI) report.

Over 100 trucks carrying onions that were headed for Ghana were reported to have become stranded behind the Benin-Niger border over the past week or so as a result of the frontier closing to impose ECOWAS sanctions in the aftermath of the military takeover in Niger. Of course, peppers and onions are grown in Ghana, primarily in the country's northern regions, but they are a rain-fed grain that is in season from December to March.

Farmers watch helplessly as business kings and queens from Accra and Kumasi arrive every year, offering prices that defame their strength and intelligence. However, "how for do," as we would say in Ghana? They accept the low prices and watch as their labor and power are reduced to need and pitifulness in order to maintain body and soul. The value chain is not set up to take in excess supply at the level of government legislation. We only ever use onions to consume them. Serious shortage reaches crisis levels from April through December.

We travel to a place where hardly anything grows in order to obtain garlic. Human species that rely solely on nature to provide for themselves from farms and poster are doomed to reduce their populations to beggars, according to countries that put their money where the tongue is— where the vehicle does not take the horses, where professors and ministers commute to work by train and vehicle.

Through analysis, the governments of those nations, which place a strong emphasis on science and technology, have discovered that growing onions, tomatoes, and other crops all year long is not even rocket science. Greenhouse Technology is a technology that enables the best cultivation problems for plants to be replicated. Most regions of the world can produce two crop yields annually with great temperature control and plenty of lighting.

In those nations, serving in the legislature is not a fashion show. They make the technology accessible to Ghanaian experts. Why then do we continue to practice rain-fed agriculture, which merely yields crops once a year? The answer to this question does surprise us: the government does not have enough money to fund research in a nation where Council of State members receive GH365.392.67 ex gratia after four years while nurses receive 25, 000 after 30 years of cleaning up patients covered in excreta. Over time, Ghanaian administrations have just enough money to cover scientist salaries.

Contributors from the USA, the UK, Japan, and the Netherlands, to name a few, provide funding for research. However, an African MP has the option to leave Parliament for more than one year before returning to start collecting GH28,017 every month. ( O, I know: you'd be upset that Ghanaians are wasting time debating GH365,000 ex gratia if you had so much that you could keep US$ 1 million at home!

Have you heard of Ave Kludze and Dr. Trebi Ollenu? They are Ghanaians who have earned recognition in the United States for helping NASA develop rocket science. They would be just as "useless" and defenseless in Ghana as the KNUST and CSIR researchers. Ghanaians honor Guinness Ghana Brewery Limited now for producing the black, bitter beverage with locally grown maize. Thousands of dollars are saved by that import substitution. The Savannah Agriculture Research Institute of CSIR's investigation into regional types has made it possible.

Exactly what am I saying? Ghana will soon scream in hunger if we figure out how to put our horses before the vehicle and spend money on scientists rather than MPs. Dubai made the decision to grow economically. Dubai has the world's largest flower garden, despite being plain, and it draws significant tourists. Researchers were paid well to complete this.

Our Members in Ghana are well-dressed. Even better pay is not being sought after by our researchers. They only require a study fund. He will explain how the Planting for Food and Jobs plan was successful because of the partnership between research and policy.

If it were up to me, I'd destroy the new BoG head office project - Dormaahene

The new US$ 250 million Bank of Ghana head office building project, which is being built at Ridge in Accra, the Dormaa Traditional Area's Omanhene, according to Osagyefo Obseadeeyo AgYemang Badu II, would be destroyed if I had my way. There's an assertion made by the vice president of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Bawumia claiming is the political journey has to bless him with the requisite skills and experiences to run into the race for flagbearers for his political party. According to Dr. Bawumia, he believes Ghana is going to be one of the fastest-growing countries under his regime when he's voted into power and hence wins the general election in 2024. The vice president, Dr. Bawumia said for him to join the race to win the flagbearer is a blessing to the party. In all he also declared his intentions for the country thereby urging his party members to choose him to be the flagbearer to defeat the vibrant opposition political party, New Democratic Congress (NDC). He stated that he's the only one with a track record to win the 2024 general election.

He added that even being a running mate for Nana Addo has earned him so much track records due to his pool of interventions and innovative ideas. In this, he said he has been vice president for two solid terms (8 years) and a running mate for the party four consecutive times. His experience working at the Bank of Ghana earned him many skills related to the economy. Being the vice president for two terms has made him gain more experience in economic management performance since he was even once the chairman of the economic management team, he said. For our political party, New Patriotic Party to win the next political power ahead of the 2024 general election will need to have someone who has track records to lead the party. The party is now aiming for breaking the 8, thus winning political power three consecutive times is only possible when a competent person is chosen to lead the party. A person with great credibility, and innovative ideas, who have acquired experience to sustain the party in power again.

"Because I am from the North part of Ghana and the flagbearer of the opposition political party is also from the North will even make me win the general 2024 elections automatically. In this case, I will penetrate into the strongest holds of the New Democratic Congress and campaign massively for the New Patriotic Party to win with ease," Vice President Dr. Bawumia mentioned. A meeting with the New Patriotic Party delegates at Somanya made it known that he's not into politics to enrich himself and his family but to help the country grow. He again stated that before he partnered with the current New Patriotic Party leader, he had so many chances and better things to do to fetch him a lot of money but yet decided to let them go because of the love he has for his country. For him joining the party in 2016 enabled the party to win political power, wasn't that awesome? He said.

The vice president, Dr. Bawumia also enlisted the number of policy and social interventions he has brought up during his regime as a vice president and these include free senior high school, and technical vocational education, among others through his efforts the party has implemented. He said these named interventions are okay to yield their political power. Another outstanding intervention is the Ghana card which is going to serve multiple purposes. This includes traveling to the various West African states with the Ecowas card. Brothers and sisters, we don't have to let anyone throw the dust into our eyes, let's not allow anyone to lie to us that I can not and for that matter not qualified to handle the economy and the country as a whole said the vice president. The vice president in addressing the delegates also stated that nobody from the 20 aspirants is trustworthy and also with good track records other than him.

The job is not about talking or finding one to become just a flagbearer but rather a person with vision, credibility, track records, innovative ideas, tolerance, and humility. Looking at all his qualities he can get the job done when power is vested in him. He, therefore, appeals to the delegates to give him the thumbs up to be the flagbearer for the party.

The Bawumia's victory: A moment of National Invigoration.

It was a moment of national and historical significance when Barack Obama became the first black presidential candidate from one major political party, followed by America's first African-American president. The election of Bawumia as the NPP's standard-bearer may not have the same magnitude or racial conflagration, but from an ethnic, tribal, and religious point of view, it has the same influence. From a symbolic perspective, there are many young people of northern extract; many young Muslims who will look at the image of their kinsman clinching the nomination and know that they too can dream big, aspire to the highest levels, and achieve the seemingly improbable. This is why the victory of Bawumia will be a moment of national inspiration.

This is of particular concern to young people, Muslims, and particularly nationals from the Northern part of Ghana. We must not lose sight of and underestimate this development given the context within which it has occurred, especially those discussions that have been taking place between northern sector division and marginalization. It's possible this was an NPP issue, but it is a huge advertisement of democracy, identity politics, representation, seats in parliament, and particier policies across Ghana and Africa at large. Many young people in Walewale, Bimbilla, Kumbungu, Navrongo, Gushegu, Gberi, Peteyiri, Zabzugu, and many other towns and villages will look at this picture of Bawumia being coronated as leader of his party and know that they too can achieve whatever they set out to do.

It is a great sign of how far we have come in the history of this country that anyone, irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, creed, or region can aspire to be Ghana's presidential candidate, flagbearer, and leader. Admittedly, it doesn't automatically rid itself of all the problems but at a fundamental level that is completely devoid of any political mischief, optics has tremendous implications to encourage a culture of aspiration, inspiration, and grand dreams. This is Ghana’s own regional or ethnic glass ceiling breaking moment, a boundary-breaking moment by any measure.

The National Peace Council calls upon us to adopt a moderate tone in our communications

Some political figures, particularly from the two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party( NPP) and the National Democratic Congress( NDC), have accelerated the political climate even before the nation engages in significant electioneering in 2024 by making statements that have the potential to spur their supporters to act in ways that threaten the peace and stability of their nation. Because they harm national peace and do not portend for our democratic era, The Daily Graphic does not think it is appropriate to repeat the statements made by some social leaders. The National Peace Council( NPC) had been prompted by these offensive remarks to urge the political parties to pay attention to what they said to prevent unwarranted instability and unneeded tension in the nation.

Worryingly, the perpetrators frequently claim that their remarks were merely political rhetoric intended to warn their supporters to exercise caution during elections. The NPP and NDC have both launched campaigns to persuade voters to provide either side the majority in Parliament by 2024 in light of the current impasse in the legislature. The two major political party leaders were gathered by the Police Administration next Tuesday to issue warnings about their remarks and how they might jeopardize the stability of the country. In addition to meeting with the social party leaders, we think the Police Administration has more work to do. Before and during the 2020 general election, there have been unresolved situations involving fatalities or maim injuries for several individuals. Despite pleas from Ghanaians and civil society organizations, the Ghana Police Service has not even updated its investigations into these situations.

The authorities should have updated us on these investigations by now. BrytGh also urges all political parties, social actors, and law enforcement organizations to carry out their duties with greater accountability. As the NPC president, Rev., correctly stated, Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, it is not the best defense to claim that no action was taken against a political worker for making offensive remarks and that another political opponent may do the same. Social leaders' justifications are useless, so the police need to take a more proactive approach. The electorate should be informed of the sanctions imposed on offenders to deter others, and it is wise to establish a legitimate unit to examine political statements. The Daily Graphic even appreciates the NPC's initiative to ask security agencies to consider their roles in promoting peaceful elections as well as the election roadmap.

We also urge media outlets to exercise caution by refraining from reporting divisive political remarks because, in the worst-case scenario, the media cannot absolve itself of responsibility. When program creators or guests permit politicians to render such provocative remarks without interjecting, it can be worrying. By preventing the use of their systems to upset national peace, media practitioners also have a crucial role to play.
Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11590845509630016252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-27377502792042528992023-04-24T15:00:00.012-07:002023-12-02T09:57:38.049-08:00We don't have to carry cylinders all over again; Pick up already filled and pay for the gas in it: Applauded by two organizations.
The implementation of the cylinder recirculation technique is applauded by two organizations.

The Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC), Mr. Duncan Amoah, and the Executive Director of the Institute for Energy Security (IEA), Nana Amoasi VII said the NPA and its partners had done a lot of work to see to the seamless execution of the program. They were speaking in separate interviews after site visits to a cylinder bottling plant at Tema and a cylinder manufacturing company at the North Industrial Area in Accra on Wednesday. Under the model, residents of Accra and Kumasi will exchange empty cylinders for already filled ones at cylinder exchange points. A customer shall be required to register with his country's identification card or another form of identification. By 2030, this policy should lead to increased use of liquefied petroleum gas marketed under LPG from approximately 29 % today to at least 50 %. The security of the distribution chain is also expected to be improved.

The rest of the 6 %, he said, would focus on closing loopholes and ensuring additional safety standards. There's a lot of work left to do. The Authority hasn't fallen asleep yet. “All said and done, I believe that the facility will go on well looking at the structure in place,” he stressed. Nana Amoasi VII, in his view, said that the CRM should be allowed to go forth as there were already sufficient quantities of bottling pants, and Goil's Bottling Plant was well placed to start operations. However, Nana Amoasi VII observed that the packaging area was in good shape and had been equipped with a belt consisting of metal rather than rubber. In her submission during an engagement with market traders in Accra, the President of the Greater Accra Market Traders, Ms. Mercy Naa Afrowa Nii Djan, described the CRM as a superb program that would ensure safety in the distribution chain and also avoid cheating.

We don't have to carry cylinders all over again

We don't have to carry cylinders all over again; Pick up already filled and pay for the gas in it. The inhabitants of the Greater Accra region of Ghana have been selected to undergo some intervention policy by not necessarily owning a cylinder but one can just pick up the cylinder and use the gas and only pay for the gas and later return the cylinder. This initiative is said to start in September this year. The individuals who use gas will only need to take away the filled cylinders and pay for the content. This initiative will probably include Kumasi as well. So everything will be well scheduled as it begins in Accra and later spread all over to the other parts of the country. This is under the control of the National Petroleum Authority and its other related partners under the care of the Energy Ministry. During a press release, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer denoted the plan has been well structured and formulated. This is to ensure smooth and safe disbursement of LPG to the necessary designated areas.

The program is said to have positive implications if it is well implemented looking at the framework of how it's being programmed. The Deputy Chief Executive Officer stated how the registration is going to be using the Ghana card at the center where the exchange will be held to collect data about those who become committed to the service. Some of the cylinders to be disbursed include APPED, SIGMA, etc. Per the policy, cylinders would be accumulated from their manufacturing companies to be filled out. There would be some key officers to carry out the duty. The cylinder will be filled and submitted to the various designated exchange places for some sorting and other relevant activities so that they can be transferred later for consumers to register and pay for. This could be for domestic and commercial usage.

Special vehicles are going to be employed to do the disbursements of the filled cylinders to areas where the consumers could pick them up. In this case, consumers will come with their empty cylinders for a filled cylinder. The main aim of the CRM is to ensure making more than 50 percent of the population could have access to the very safest and decent LPG by 2032. This initiative is to basically improve access to LPG among others. Again this intervention is also to ensure there is a massive reduction in the unwanted loss of lives and properties due to some human activities at the gas filling station. The prices of this would however not be affected on the model of the LPG. If some would have to change then it would be how the consumers are located and how they can access them. The number of cylinders that are going to be deployed would be of different sizes so that consumers can afford any quantity they may need.

Given this, consumers are expected to repair any faulty cylinders that may occur in consumers hands. All materials required from the individual who would like to register need to bring on board their Ghana card and their money to purchase the gas.

Don't use refurbished liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, GNFS

Ghana National Fire Service warns the public of the use of refurbished liquefied petroleum gas cylinders which are available for sale. The caution was in response to the activities of some unscrupulous persons who would sometimes go around collecting or buying damaged, old, and worn LPG cylinders at cheap prices from dumping sites. According to the GNFS, the act is not only illegal, criminal, and dangerous, but also poses a risk of gas leakage from the low resistance points on the cylinder body when filled with LPG, and such cylinders are also at risk of explosion.

The statement stated that hazardous waste was damaged, outdated, rusty, or unused LPG cylinders which were not to be disposed of as normal trash or in refuse collection points. It stated that all those worn-out cylinders should be transported to the outlets of registration gas supply companies, distributors, or LPG recycling centers or plants. To guarantee the security of lives at homes and workplaces, it is also necessary that the purchase of liquefied petroleum gas cylinders should be carried out by solely accredited or authorized dealers. The General Secretariat of the Security Council also called on citizens to provide information that would enable law enforcement services to arrest and prosecute those who commit such crimes and dangerous activities.
Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11590845509630016252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-61947940296434292482023-04-24T14:50:00.007-07:002023-12-02T10:16:23.386-08:00Why there is so much fake olive oil in the market - Citizens need to be much more conscious.
Why there is so much fake olive oil in the market - Citizens need to be much more conscious. The Food and Drug Authority in Ghana may not be aware of this counterfeit olive oil product moving all over the market and we may wish to draw serious attention to this issue as urgent as possible. While a guy went to the market to purchase an olive oil on the street of Accra, he came across an unusual brand of this olive oil which clearly signified it was fake. What brought about this suspicion was about two bottles of olive oil of which one was quite bigger than the other one yet all were captioned 70ml.

This is indeed a clear indication of people selling fake olive oil to innocent citizens. Olive oil is extracted from the natural plant known as olive fruit which obviously contains monounsaturated fatty acid. This fatty acid in the olive fruit does a lot of marvelous work and this is not limited to reducing cholesterol levels and anti-inflammatory effects. The most common usage of olive oil is cooking with it. Many people also consider olive oil as a medicine that helps in the treatment of poor circulation of blood, heart diseases, and diabetes.

In the spiritual realm, olive oil is used in giving so many directions. It however depicts the presence of the divine spirit. Because of the multiple uses of olive oil, it's clear that people get fake ones in the market to get themselves flooded with money. And this fake olive oil on the market could contain harmful substances which could be dangerous to one's health. In this case, the FDA has to be more concerned and act urgently.

The Parliament of Ghana just approved a new loan to support the agricultural sector of the country.

In an attempt by the government to make the agricultural industry more interesting, parliament has approved a loan worth $52.5 million between the government of Ghana and an International Fund for Agricultural Development to support, finance, and ensure the sustainability of the sector. The facility to acquire is to ensure high productivity in such an era. This loan agreement between the government of Ghana and the international body was actually presented to parliament on the fourth night.

To address the climate crisis, we must begin working towards it.

In advance of this year's Earth Day celebration, Virginia Palmer, the U.S. Ambassador, announced the winners of the "Capture the Change" photo contest on Thursday, April 20, 2023. The U.S. Embassy's creative strategy for piquing the interest of African youth in learning about solutions to the worldwide climate crisis is the contest. It's important to note that more than 100 young folks shared pictures of the effects, possible solutions, and adaptations Ghanaians are making to deal with the climate crisis.

According to the U.S. Ambassador, "I'm truly impressed by young Ghanaians' creativity and optimism, as well as their mental resolve to address the climate crisis. These pictures clearly show how they are adjusting to our changing climate." The Biden administration has made investments in and plans to collaborate with the U.S. since 2021. To support African-led initiatives to promote conservation, climate adaptation, and a fair energy transition, the S Congress is expected to contribute at least 1.1 billion.

The U.S. program is supported by The Daily Graphic. S Embassy will use technology to take advantage of young people's possibilities to address the global climate crisis. To survive, American nations, including Ghana, must take proactive measures because they are already suffering from some of climate change's worst effects. The African continent has the smallest share of global greenhouse gas emissions, at just 3.8%, according to the Carbon Disclosure Project( CDP)- Africa, compared to China's 23%, the US '19%, and the European Union's ( EU) 13%.

However, when it comes to climate-related disasters like floods, drought, displacement, and food and water uncertainty, Africa is the hardest hit. According to the World Meteorological Organization( WMO), the average temperature in Africa between 1991 and 2021 is 0.3° C per decade, which is faster than the 0.2% warming rate between 1961 and 1990. With an estimated 116 million people on the continent expected to be at risk of sea level rise, the American coastlines are also experiencing a rise in sea levels that is faster than the world average. Additionally, over 500,000 people have died on the peninsula as a result of drought over the past 50 years, and more than US$ 70 billion has been lost. This is in addition to the more than 2,000 deaths caused by flood-related tragedies that were reported during that time. Once more, it is predicted that by 2050, climate change will cost African countries$ 50 billion annually.

The Daily Graphic thinks that efforts to address the global climate crisis may be inclusive and all-encompassing in light of the bleak picture presented below. Other stakeholders may speak out and take action to safeguard the environment from harm while policymakers develop solutions to the climate crisis. Steps must be taken to reduce vehicular emissions as nations strive to keep emissions below the 1.5° C target set by the Paris Agreement. To stop persistent flooding in many areas of the nation, flood-mitigating actions must also be implemented. To stop the tide, all community, national, regional, and international actors must cooperate in an organized way.

There is a need to have more female parliamentarians in our parliament due to the diverse capabilities of females.

There is a need to have more female parliamentarians in our parliament due to the diverse capabilities of females. There has been a concern about involving more females in our legislative arm of the government. These suggestions were a result of the probe of the population of the country. Now, the assumption is that in a state where the female has the number in terms of population size becomes more logical to get their representative correspondence number in parliament as well. Looking at Ghana's population, the number of females constitutes the greatest portion so it becomes necessary to have a reflective number in the parliament as well.

However, it is quite unfortunate that female parliamentarians are only a few, just about 40 out of the total 275 members of parliament. Since this number is too small to render the inability for female members of parliament to part take in the decision-making the ensure the well-being of the females in the country. This same number hinders the opportunity of the female members of parliament to express their interest in the decision-making process about the male members of parliament. The procedures laid in the parliament of Ghana always give the male parliamentarians the upper hand in the decision-making process.

This is unintentional to have few female members of parliament with more male parliamentarians as they are far more in number. The argument here is that female members of parliament have little opportunity to make decisions on crucial things bothering women in the country. In this case, any issue introduced in parliament concerning women makes the female members of parliament discuss such issues affecting them due to their number in parliament.

An issue at parliament now becomes a concern we need to take urgent action. The Speaker of Parliament however has suggested that some quotas need to be introduced to minorities and certain groups. Such quotas shall be included in certain decisions. It seems the country is suffering from gender equality in so many aspects of the country therefore some mechanisms are required to straighten up all the imbalances.
Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11590845509630016252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-16807600180716670602023-04-24T14:48:00.012-07:002023-12-02T03:13:47.104-08:00 Let's not remove but keep our boarding system in schools in good shape.
Many Ghanaians really cherish boarding for numerous reasons which include the distance some students would travel, socialization of the students, close monitoring of students by the teachers, and many more. Some students also have different points of view as they may want to get the greatest access to educational resources, this motive also triggers their choice and decision to attend boarding.

Researchers and educationalists have dropped their concerns on the need to keep our boardings on the right path. According to some educationists, it is most likely for a country to experience a high rate of indiscipline if the boardings in our schools are weak and scrap. They suggested that boardings in our secondary schools begin to bring up indiscipline in the learners once the authorities become too lenient. And for that matter,, this is one of the major reasons there is too much indiscipline among the youth of late.

Many are however concerned about how students at the secondary school level become that indiscipline. This suggests that the boarding system which was introduced before the independence of the country has done enough but just doing more harm than good of late. Other educationists also suggested that the problem isn't about how long the country has practiced such a system but rather our inability to make sure that the boarding system as well as the S.H.S. operates to inculcate discipline in the students.

Mr. <span face=""PT Sans", sans-serif" style="background-color: white;">Oduro stated that the problems we are facing in this era concerning the school system are not about removing the boarding system from the school but simply how we can find our way out to deal with indiscipline behavior whether boarding or day students. Since the rate of indiscipline is becoming unbecoming. Though it is obvious that every single day, we get a report on an indiscipline act better still we get to find means to deal with these deviant behaviors rather than removing the boarding system from secondary school.

One of the greatest concerns is also about the relaxation of the school authorities with respect to the enforcement of discipline rules in the school due to some imposes of the government policies on safe schools. Again the relaxation of the school authorities is also a result of some human rights issues. In fact, we also believe that the boarding system is so far the heart of secondary schools since not all communities are privileged to have S.H.S. hence learners can walk to school.

Removing the boarding system from our secondary schools would definitely be a demerit to those students who are from the community where the school is situated, thus they would be required to walk a long way which even takes some of thems days to get into the school. It is true that boarding is made of different individuals with different backgrounds, cultures, ethics and many more yet students gain exposure to all calibers of the individual which ultimately increases their competency with respect to human relations.

We are of the view that many parents even opt for the boarding system especially when the system is more advantageous since their wards learn some level of maturity, build peer relations, and learn how to mingle with friends, etc. However, what happened a few days ago has brought questions to some faces as to what they thought the boarding system should be.

Deputy Minister urges prison recruits to strive to greater heights in their careers.

Deputy Minister urges prison recruits to strive to greater heights in their careers. As they work hard and appropriately for the country, new recruits to the Ghana Prisons Service have been encouraged to strive for greatness in their chosen field. In order to protect their profession, they have also been urged to focus their efforts on improving themselves and refrain from engaging in any indisciplined behavior. The recruits would be able to improve in their field and provide high-quality services to their organization, according to Naana Eyiah, a deputy minister for the interior who provided the advice.

At the Prison Officers Training School's parade of recently hired employees last Thursday, she offered guidance. There were 448 participants in Course 122, of which 261 were men( 58%), and 187 were women( 41.7%), making up the recruits. This year's first of three enlist courses is being offered. The majority of the recruits were general-duty workers and artisans, including carpenters, masons, plumbers, and mechanics. They were chosen from a variety of professional and technical backgrounds based on the Service's need for human resources.

Others held degrees and higher federal diplomas in a variety of fields, including administration, nursing, agriculture, and education. The recruits underwent a rigorous training program that emphasized the useful, day-to-day aspects of prison and offender management as part of their training. They also received normal classroom instruction in interpersonal skills, prison duties, and penal law. Drill and actual training, first aid, and the computation of prisoners' sentences were additional subjects covered in the curriculum. The audience applauded loudly as the recruits put on a magnificent performance.

Reuben Ahiaxornu, the enlisting officer, won awards for five recruit officers who stood out during their training, making him the general best recruiter. Stephen Hammond, who won the commandant's prize, Abdulai Abass, Doris Asare, and Lilian Derry were the other award winners in physical training and drill, respectively. Their hiring, according to the surrogate minister, who served as the reviewing officer at the parade, will significantly increase the Service's staff strength and operational capacity, so they must demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have learned through training.

Follow the values of vigilance, humanity, and fortitude while maintaining discipline and professionalism throughout your conduct. In your interactions with officials, men, women, and prisoners, these must be your guiding principles. In light of the fact that "incarceration is punishment in and of itself, not for punishment," she instructed the recruits to treat the prisoners with care, respect, and decency without jeopardizing their professional ethics. There is no such point as a negative station, wherever you are posted to, try to take advantage of the opportunities to your advantage, Ms. Eyiah urged the recruits to accept postings wherever their services may be needed.

The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme( NEIP) and the Ghana Prisons Service were commended by the deputy minister for launching the "Entrepreneurship for Restoration Programme" to train prisoners and inmates in entrepreneurship and various light manufacturing skills. Additionally, basic packs and production-ready kits were given to the participants. For officials who have received training to be able to launch these businesses, the program will offer grants and loans as working capital. When prisoners were released from jails, working capital was even given to them for their start-ups.
Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11590845509630016252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-86675502003159802872023-04-15T07:19:00.005-07:002023-12-02T03:13:47.105-08:00Let's have corrupt-free officials by reporting them - Chief Justice Advised
The newly appointed Chief Justice Madam Gertrude had interactions with the good people of Akwatia in which she declared her concerns about the court officials who collect money to judge in favor of the various individuals who get issues in court. Mad. Gertrude however advised the entire populace to be much more careful about the need not to engage themselves with any sort of bribes with the court officials in turns of favorable decisions. In her argument, she mentioned that the court officials often do not ask for this money but it's only a means for some unprofessional court staff to enrich themselves which is highly unrecommended. Chief Justice Madam Gertrude insisted that the public needs to report any court service staff who by any means demands money from the judicial service. We must all support eliminating this act in the court system, she stated.

During the event at Akwatia, Mad. Gertrude made an appeal to the court system in the district to offer their necessary support in fighting this together. This is a new initiative by Mad. Gertrude however made to interact directly with the various communities to enlighten them on the responsibilities of the judiciary and how the law works. This initiative is to take away all the negative perceptions of the judiciary and understand that the judiciary is the third arm of government. Justice Torkornoo declared that the only role needed to be played by the citizens is to be patriotic enough to report all forms of bribes in the court as the court officials may attempt to request money. With this in place, the Judicial Service would be able to combat these awful and unprofessional activities of some court officials who also find little opportunity to swim in a pool of corruption.

Justice Gertrude Torkornoo stated and I quote 'Any court registrar, interpreter, clerk, recorder or anyone else among the staff who requests for money to be disbursed to judges is a thief. The real fact of the matter is that it is rare to see judges taking money in most cases and those who even collect the money in the names of these judges use it themselves without the awareness of the judges. Such activities need urgent attention and for that reason, citizens need to report such persons to the police service or even the Judicial Service. Thereafter, matters would be thoroughly investigated to get to the bottom of it and sanction appropriately those who become committed to it. This corruption activity is a bad practice which ultimately ruins all of the reputation of the Judiciary and the good news is that the Judiciary is ever prepared to deal with these activities,' she declared.

Public concerns about the activities of the judiciary also triggered some intervention from the government. Mad. Gertrude also stated that it becomes unethical and deviation from the standards for the court officials to demand money before undertaking their sole responsibilities to improve the quality service of the judiciary to the general public. When those people are caught or brought before the judiciary service, there is no hesitation in getting them sacked whilst they would also be made to face the law. Madam Torkornoo also stated that there is countless opportunity for anyone to log a complaint against any staff of the service if deemed necessary.

The claim that MD was the target of the plot is disputed by Paul Adom Otchere, the managing director of the Ghana Airport Company.

Paul Adom-Otchere, the chairman of the board of Ghana Airport Company Limited, has denied accusations that he was involved in a fictitious plan to remove Pamela Djamson-Tettey as the company's managing director. Mr. Adom-Otchere has vehemently denied having any such intentions, despite claims made by the Airport Workers Union that he played a part in the prospective removal.

Due to Ms. Djamson-Tettey's refusal to support him on particular operational decisions within the company, the Union accused Mr. Adom-Otchere of orchestrating her removal, which sparked the controversy. The Public Service Workers Union's Divisional Chairman at the Ghana Airport Company Limited, Mr. Abdul-Issaka Bamba, expressed the Union by saying, "Our information is that the Board Chair [Paul Adom-Otchere] is championing the course of removal of the MD, and this is causing a lot of agitations in the industry." According to Bamba, there has been a lot of unrest among the employees due to the ongoing situation, and they have been constantly asking for information and voicing their concerns.

In light of this, Mr. Bamba emphasized the significance of fostering leadership harmony to promote business growth and guarantee operating stability. In reply, Mr. Adom-Otchere said he didn't know anything about the specifics of the alleged plot. He claimed that the Union's connection did not provide specific examples of the purported scheme in an interview with Joy News. Mr. Adom-Otchere stated that he intended to meet with the Union to learn more about the situation because it is now unclear to him.

The political image of Ghana is being tarnished by deception, corruption, crime, and electoral irregularities.

In a stable democracy like Ghana, all citizens' voices matter because it is the foundation of progress and accountability. However, dishonesty, corruption, crime, and electoral irregularities are tarnishing Ghana's political image. It's time for all Ghanaians to put fear and favor on the back burner, and speak out against these injustices. By making our voices heard, we can build up a more robust democracy that truly takes into account people's will and aspirations. In addition to the fact that I disagree with people who talk out of spite and prejudice, I believe that all citizens should be able to speak the truth. Candidates who have been appointed to public office should be held accountable and told the truth, regardless of party affiliation. Some people have been extremely critical of the former governments, but they're completely silent these days. Isn't that to say things are all right?.

In a good democracy, picking and choosing is not the way to go. For as long as this government is gone, the brave men and women who have loudly opposed it should continue to do so. Ghanaians are wondering whether they'll continue to tell the truth or succumb to hibernation. It is necessary to create a positive consistency to build trust. Ghanaians are wondering whether they'll continue to tell the truth or succumb to hibernation. The key principle of Ghana's democratic system is citizen participation, which cannot be weakened. With their voices and actions, all citizens can influence policy on a global scale. By speaking up without fear or favor, we can hold our leaders responsible for their actions and demand openness to the process of decision-making. Our common voice, ensuring that the government keeps to its democratic mandate, will be a deterrent for political misconduct.

It can be intimidating to speak up about political corruption, as it may require facing powerful individuals and risking personal consequences. For speaking out against powerful authorities, certain journalists are subject to consequences. Nevertheless, it is important to remember that the strength of our democracy can be derived from us all being willing to fight for justice and fairness. We're inspiring others to overcome fear and share their concerns, generating a ripple effect for change. A key barrier to Ghana's democratization is corruption in politics. It depletes public resources to promote inequality and encourages it. By reporting cases, exchanging evidence, and demanding investigations, we need to band together as people so that corruption can be exposed.

By pressing for the removal of corruption, and by implementing more serious measures to hold offenders accountable in a coordinated way, we can exert pressure on authorities. To keep our democracy alive, the electoral process must be fair. Voter intimidation, harassment, and manipulation undermine the basic foundation of fair elections. By raising our voices against electoral misconduct both in campaign and on election day we're sending a strong signal to the voters that we want transparent, impartial elections. To ensure fair representation, that includes the reporting of irregularities, support for electoral reforms, and active participation in voter education campaigns. The crucial part of the fight against political corruption can also be played by CSOs, media, and NGOs. They must act as a watchdog, investigate offenses, and hold politicians to account. By providing them with the resources they need and actively taking part in their projects, we will have to support these organizations as citizens.

We are contributing to a more transparent democracy with increased efforts from them. In addition, we should appreciate and help those who are making a stand against corruption in Ghana instead of demonizing them. Even the Special Prosecutor, Mr Kissi Agyebeng is getting frustrated and about to drop out of this case. To this end, all individuals must participate and speak out against any wrongdoers. If we stand up for what is right, but do it in defiance of others' actions, then so be it. We're not supposed to stay silent because the matter doesn't concern us.

Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11590845509630016252noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-23222205655767246882022-12-19T06:58:00.000-08:002023-12-02T03:13:47.104-08:00 In the absence of an organized restructuring of liabilities, Ghana suspends external financial debt relief.
In the absence of an organized restructuring of liabilities, Ghana suspends external financial debt relief.

The federal government has introduced a suspension of all resettlements of exterior financial obligations pending an organized restructuring of the afflicted responsibilities. A declaration outdated Monday, December 19, 2022, provided by the Ministry of Money mentioned that the suspension will consist of the resettlements of Eurobonds; industrial describe loans, and the majority of Ghana's bilateral financial debt. The suspension, inning accordance with the declaration will, nonetheless, not impact the resettlements of Ghana's multilateral financial debt, brand-new financial obligations (whether multilateral or else) contracted after December 19, 2022, or financial obligations connected to specific temporary profession centers. "We are additionally assessing particular financial obligations connected to tasks with the highest possible socio-economic influence for Ghana which might need to be left out. This residential financial debt procedure belongs to a much more detailed program to recover public financial debt sustainability. Provided the size of the financial and social situation that Ghana is faced with, this residential financial debt procedure will not suffice to shut down the big funding voids that Ghana encounters over the years to come. According to him, Ghana is largely governed by a government dictated from the outside, because it is not financially independent to make decisions. We're refusing to generate resources, and we rely on others for food so that whoever pays the piper can call a tune. The IMF arm can be seen, as I've pointed out, in many of the provisions included in this budget.

A certificate of urgency has been passed in Parliament for a critical bill, namely the Affirmative Action Law on Gender Equality. That's not going to happen. We're not going to approve it under a note of urgency," the Speaker said. He gave this notice in Accra yesterday at the Speaker’s Breakfast Forum on the theme “Thirty Years of Parliamentary Democracy under the Fourth Republic: Reflections on Citizens Engagement and the Way Forward”. In the course of celebrating 30 years of unbroken parliamentary democracy in the fourth Republic, a forum has been organized that brings together civil society organizations and unconstitutable communities.

In the Speaker's view, there is an urgent need to consult key stakeholders on a bill that will define gender and equality issues for this country over many years without undue haste. The IMF won't be dictating to us. That's the one you're sure of. Not this Bill. This is a critical piece of legislation, which the IMF itself ought to be aware that for us to have any chance of implementing it, we've got to buy stakeholders on board. He said a resolution of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to which Ghana was a signatory had projected that by 2040, every parliament should have a gender parity of 50:50; failure for the same means the defaulting country would be demoted to spectator status and Ghana won’t be left behind.

The IMF should know that the IPU has set a target of 2040 for all parliaments in the world to achieve gender equality, and we need to deliberately focus on this and legitimize it in our laws. We cannot under a certificate of urgency go through this one and get it properly positioned. With a female population of 40 out of the 275 lawmakers in the current parliament, representing 14.5 percent, Mr Bagbin said Ghana had a long way to go and “we won’t be passing laws under certificate of urgency (and be getting the flacks whilst those who impose them on parliament go unblemished). While all this is happening, we still have an institution that will give us confidence to take the road ahead and I've been further strengthened by five pillars of engagement which Parliament plans to implement as part of reaching out to people," she said.
The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8844371077600374935.post-33217078393297572562022-08-14T10:36:00.000-07:002024-02-17T00:10:14.573-08:00The students must benefit from the revision of the curriculum
The students must benefit from the revision of the curriculum.

The nation's philosophical, sociological, economic, and technical focus is used to determine these objectives. They're common to all schools in the country.

Apart from these, certain global objectives are also laid down in education and must be understood by all who work in the field of learning. In line with these objectives, the curriculum is also set up and contributes to their achievement.

To inform the objectives of education, methodologies, content, and the role of teachers, schools, and students, there is therefore a need for a common curriculum framework across the country.

All stakeholders in the field of education should be informed of this. It's known as the National Curriculum Framework. In line with the needs of society and educational policies, the framework is constantly changing.

A new curriculum for all primary schools, from preschool to grade 8, was launched by the Ministry of Education three years back. The implementation of the new curriculum, known as the Standard Based and Common Core for Primary and Secondary Schools, is based on the fact that the Common Core will eventually be introduced at the senior level. The new curriculum aims to change the way students learn from rote learning to critical skills acquisition.

The current batch of final-year Junior High School students will sit for the first-ever Common Core Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and then proceed to Senior High School (SHS) with the Common Core program.

This announcement has sparked a debate among the general public, especially among parents who have been encouraging their children to wait until 2023 to take the BECE instead of taking it this year.

However, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment NCCA said that at least based on a trial test conducted among students in some selected schools across the country there was no cause for alarm.

The revised curriculum, which effectively takes off in the 2024/2025 academic year, will also usher in significant changes at the SHS level. For example, students of general science will no longer be required to study core and optional mathematics as separate subjects for examination.

Instead, the two would be replaced by Additional Mathematics (Add Maths). Also, these students are not going to pursue integrated science because they've studied pure science.

According to the curriculum, Integrated Science will now be called General Sciences and Modern Mathematics instead of Core Mathematics for all students who are pursuing other programs at the secondary school level.

The importance of a specific topic will depend on the extent to which it is useful in meeting education objectives. The importance of each subject and the anticipated benefits for learners will be increased if it is more advantageous to achieve education objectives.

It is our interest to make sure that children, who would have the ability to carry out an effective transfer of power in this country, are well taken care of by any change in the education sector.
The Angelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00579602885333579213noreply@blogger.com0
