Young ones urged to acquire soft skills to advance career in tech


The Home of Digital and Commercial Operations at Vodafone Ghana, Angela Mensah-Poku, has told the youth to blend hard and soft skills to help advance their career in technical. “One thing that I have realized, especially in Technical, is the fact there is not enough give attention to soft skills. Thus, being customer-centric, progressive, passionate, collaborative, vibrant, and able to pivot quickly is key. “If you have a beautiful marriage between the hard skills, emotional intelligence and human areas of technology in what you choose to do, you will always differentiate yourself, ” she said.

The woman gave the advice at a challenging discussion hosted by MEST Africa as part of activities to mark the 2022 Women’s Record Month. “Striking that wonderful balance between hard skills and soft skills is important. Whether you are an businessman or else you want to move into a major organisation, bring your humanity to whatever you decide to do and work with your emotional intellect, collaboration, inquisitiveness, and other critical delicate skills, ” Microsoft Mensah-Poku added.

The woman said her costume was considering gentle skills as well, since it allowed the company to innovate constantly and improve customer experience. Ms Mensah-Poku provided one of how Vodafone’s Robotics Squad can collaborate effectively with other teams to develop tools and products that deal with customer needs. The lady encouraged young women enthusiastic about pursuing a career in technology to embrace problems and give their finest.

“There is no replacement for hard work, whether you are female or male. The work environment is also changing, and ladies are getting more support. Be creative and inquisitive, and I actually guarantee you will attract men and women00 who reveal your values and will be to assist you when times get hard, ” she suggested.
