Ukrainian Ghanaians refuse to appear for evacuation-Government


Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration says that some Ghanaian students residing in Ukraine  have refused to appear. According to the ministry, students who agreed to evacuate and bought a plane ticket for this reason did not appear at the airport on the scheduled date. 

 "The ministry pointed out with great concern that Ghanaian students refused to appear at the airport after expressing their intention to evacuate, which allowed the government to buy unused tickets and travel. We have  to pay for the COVID 19 inspection for unintended people, "the ministry said in  a statement  on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Participation to avoid wasting public funds. The government added that staff and agents would only pay for two nights of  hotel accommodation for Ghanaians staying at hotels in neighboring countries of Ukraine and other European countries. 

 He also warned that the government's obligations to those who refused to offer assistance in returning home would end after two nights at the hotel. The statement added that so far 181 Ghanaians  have successfully returned from Ukraine. It was also noted that some Ghanaians left behind in Smy near the Russian border began their journey to Myrhorod, where they were transported to the western border towns and to neighboring countries. .. The government also thanked the various Ghanaian Student Unions (NUGS), Pentecostal churches, other religious groups, governments, humanitarian organizations, and individuals who enabled evacuation in the region.
