State of emergency Needs To Be declared in Nigeria - RMD Tells Buhari government

Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Movie Damijo (RMD) has called on the government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency. RMD said this following the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train and the destruction of property at MKO Abiola Stadium in the wake of the Nigeria-Ghana confrontation. According to him, Nigerians are sad and angry and have seen anything that can be a cause of destruction if not dealt with properly.

RMD has warned that if the government fails to catch the perpetrators and promises more than just protecting Nigerians, things could get worse. “Nothing surprises or shocks us more; we have seen and heard everything. Absurdity culminated at all levels by our leaders. "There is an urgent need for a state of emergency in this country. We are driving over a cliff and do not seem interested in braking.

"After all, it's free fall. The government needs to do more than just catch the perpetrators and promise to actually save our lives," RMD writes.  The actor sympathized with families of those who lost their lives in Kaduna even as he recalled his experience on the train.  “At this time last year, I was on the train to Kaduna and we talked about how unsafe life is and the risks we were taking. We’re the lucky ones.

“Again a month ago, I was on the Lagos /Ibadan train, and it was the same specter of death and attacks that plagued our minds. This is not to disregard the comfort and timeliness of the train ride and how desirable it is there. ”RMD identified himself as being lucky for escaping attacks on the train, adding that anyone could be a victim if security becomes worse. "The reality is that anyone can be at any time. On the road, at the airport, at the train station, nowhere is it safer. This is our gap.

"If anything shows how devastated we are today, then the shameful attack on the camp and the destruction of the Mojahedin Khalq National Stadium in Abuja is a clear sign. People are angry and bitter and only look for stimuli. And boy! they are many "If you look at the initial reaction to a candid tweet from a young doctor who was hit by a train, you'll see that we too have lost our humanity."
