Overview COVID-19 PCR tests at airport - Mahama to federal government

Former President David Dramani Mahama states it is time for the Ghanaian government to think about review long the processes and protocols regarding PCR testing and COVID regulations at the Kotoka Global Airport (KIA). Regarding him, government must stop the US$50 compulsory PCR test for travellers with been vaccinated, adding that government must also stop the demand for beginning PCR tests ahead of the same category of travellers are granted to board routes to Ghana. Posting his personal experience on social mass media a prior end of the week not too long ago [March 19, 2022], the former President said “It is a most unfortunate situation that Ghanaians who have valid vaccination certificates cannot panel flights back home with no £90 PCR test, and an additional US$50 PCR test booking in Accra. ”

Under is what he or she posted

I journeyed last month to London on English Airways. I was pleasantly surprised after i was informed i did not require a COVID-19 PCR test to panel the flight. Although I was still needed to fill a locator form, no further tests were required of myself for the 13 days I stayed at in the UNITED KINGDOM. Imagine my jolt when British Air passage told me that I would be required to have a PCR test before I am granted to board my return flight home. They explained that this is because of regulations in Ghana. It cost £90 to get the test done. I used to be also informed i would not be checked out set for the flight back except if I filled an online form and paid a payment of $50.

Coming from my recent experience of PCR tests and COVID restrictions at our air-port, I do believe it is time for Federal to review the procedures and methods. Costly inconvenience, a financial burden and actually unfair to compell our individuals, who we inspired to take COVID-19 vaccinations, with some taking the booster devices, to pay as much as £90 to a overseas clinic for a PCR test before they are really allowed to board flights approaching back home. And many more ridiculous, they must book another 50 dollars PCR test to be conducted on arrival in Accra.

Great britain government takes into account the Ghanaian COVID-19 vaccination card globally accepted and allows entry after getting the card without the examining. It is a most unfortunate situation that Ghanaians who have valid vaccination certificates cannot aboard flights home without a £90 PCR test, and a further US$50 PCR test booking in Accra. Government must stop the US$50 required PCR test for travellers who have been vaccinated. Together with must also stop the demand for originating PCR exams prior to same classification of travellers are allowed to aboard flights to Bekwai, ghana.

The true reason for UK going back its COVID-19 restrictions is that deaths are down and severe conditions requiring intensive health care are down, and besides consider they have time to discover how to live with Covid. I do think it is time for people in Ghana to do same. Typically the long border closures have devastated the economy of your line communities. Government's story that it is deliberating at Display case in regards to possible beginning of your land region is long past due. Let's open the land borders now!
