NPP seeks relief using internal mechanisms

New Patriotic Party (NPP) calls on candidates victims of polling stations and district elections to seek relief from party leadership did. She said party  members should respect the party's constitution and the rules and regulations that guide elections, rather than resorting to violence, demonstrations and proceedings. In an interview with. Daily Graphic, Evans Nimako, head of elections and research at the NPP, said that an election committee set up to oversee the oversight and implementation of elections was objectively given to the party's national leadership. Guaranteed to report fairly.

NPP began conducting elections for polling stations and constituency coordinators from February 25th to March 5th, 2022. However,  due to the delay in the arrival of some nominations and the confusion that characterizes the review process, the deadline has been extended. The NPP National Assembly previously published guidelines for this year's polling stations, constituencies, regional and national executive elections. The Guidelines are part of  the leader's actions to ensure an effective reorganization of the party in order to strengthen the party to stay in power in the 2024 general election. All but the

Bawku Central, Assin North, Jaman South, Fomena, Jomoro, Savelugu, Techiman South, and Akwatia members were expected to participate in the exercise. However, some members were hit by injunctions and demonstrations to suspend the procedure. Members include Sunyani East, New Juaben North and Ablekuma West.  Others like Oda, Soobin and Acontbra have also appealed to national leadership.

 Internal Mechanism

Nimako said it would be in the victim's party membership to use the party's internal resolution mechanism to address  the victim's dissatisfaction. He said that if other constituencies can succeed in the election of the constituency director and the constituency coordinator, so can the other constituencies. The party said it would ensure full compliance with the party's rules and regulations leading to the election and therefore would not hesitate to sanction those who violated the law. For example, regarding the case in Formena, Mr. Nimako wondered why the group went to the demonstration because Formena was one of the seven constituencies where the election was suspended.

Background Prior to the election, the party set up a polling place and constituency election committee to oversee the election. The members of the Election Commission are state representatives appointed by the Legislature to chair the Election Commission. Other members include member chairs, secretaries, science and election supervisors, elder district councils, sponsors, member information technology officers, members of parliament or their agents (for isolated members). Does not apply) and includes older women. The Commission is responsible for deciding where and on specific dates to hold elections within the deadline approved by the National Assembly. Members of the constituency and polling place election committee do not have the right to vote.
